Wat is a throbber ?

Throbber is the icon on the top right corner that moves when the page is being loaded. It links to the Firefox page on mozilla.org when clicked.

I love this extension, but it changed my middle click mouse behavior. Now when I middle click on a link it opens in a new tab in the foreground. It used to open the the background and I cannot find a setting for this.

Any Suggestions?

Thanks,

Mark

I'm sure this is a great extension, but nowhere can I find a list of all the features of tab mix. Please put that up on your website so that I know what I'm getting before I install it.

To mark:
Check Tab Mix options
[Normal] -> [Select new tabs opened from:] -> [other links]

To hal:
OK.

Activated "Enable single window mode" setting is not kept. I always have to set it again after every firefox start.

At 7/01/2005 7:59 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Sorry. Forget my comment about the "Enable single window mode". user_pref("browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction", 2); caused this behaviour.

Since you are going to be adding a features list for Tab Mix, can you also add one to the Tab Mix Plus page. What are the differences between Tab Mix and Tab Mix Plus??

Nice extension. Only change I would request is to be able to specify a maximum tab size when using 'Tabs fit their content' option.

Hmm, another just occurred to me, but I don't know if it's even possible. Rather than have
. _______ ._______ ._______
|_tab_1_||_tab_2_||_tab_3_|
|. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . |
|. . . . . . . (pane). . . . . . . . |
|. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . |

would it be possible to have
. _______ . _________________
|_tab_1_|. . . . . . . . . . . . . . |
|_tab_2_|. . . .(display pane) . |
|_tab_3_|. . . . . . . . . . . . . . |

?

It would be great to have a way to open links in a foreground tab sometimes and a background tab other times. For instance have background be the default, but shift+middle click opens in foreground. Also, I always have a bunch of tabs open, so i love having multiple rows of tabs at the top, but it's slightly annoying that when I get another row, all the tabs stay their old width. This leaves me with most of the second row wasted when it seems like the tabs should expand to fill all available rows.

This is added to the feature to-do list, but I can't guaranty anything.

This won't be added to the feature to-do list. TBE already has it if you're interested.

Hi there, great extension. I've been using MiniT+ for some time, and recently decided to try out Tab Mix. It brings back several of the functions I liked from TBE without the horrendous number of features I never used; thank you for that. The one thing I don't like about Tab Mix is the drag indicator. In MiniT+, it is a little arrow above the tab pointing down. This doesn't change the contents of the tab, doesn't change depending on which side you're closer to, and is IMO easier to use.

Image: MiniT+ drag indicator

Would it be possible to make Tab Mix's drag indicator work like this?

Please I have only one thing to say: keep this extension the way it is today: simple and efective!

And please don't add stupid stuff to bloat it (like tab renaming or other useless stuff present in TB Plus).

Congratulations and thanks for your work on TabMix!

i dont think tmp has useless stuff at all, i use most of the features there and tabmix already has tab remanimg :p,
most the present 0.2.2 branch is based on tabmix plus, just read the changelog

"Force to open in new tab: All links" does not seem to work anymore with Firefox 1.0.5.

At 7/13/2005 1:08 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

"Restore last session when starting browser" doesn't work as it was intended. It works properly only when 3 tab's were opened. If more than 3 tabs were opened then when you open browser again Tab Mix will only resume 3 random tabs! And it will load them from browsers cache instead of loading then from Internet!

At 7/14/2005 11:15 AM, Blogger Noxious Ninja said...

Oh, one more thing. In the options for "Open links intended to open in new windows in", you have "new window", "new tab in current window", and "current tab". Could you add a "new background tab in current window" option? Thanks.

At 7/14/2005 10:12 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

you dont need to open in background, by default they already do, to make them open in the foreground just check the option to in focus

Tab Mix makes Firefox into what it should be ... really rock!

Not sure where to look for answers to these questions... can someone point me to the right place, please?

What is the difference between locked and protected?

Why is single window mode not recommended?

What does the 'change opening order' option do?

THANKS!

At 7/24/2005 12:56 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

lock makes links open in a new tab.
protect prevents tabs from closing.

the not suggested part was put there by loxigoul, im assuming he didnt want people to be confused why a new tab was created instead of a window or why some things were disabled

change order is dependant on tabs opening next to the current one. originaly tabs would open like

[a][b][c][1][2][3] -> [a][3][2][1][b][c with the option

that option makes tabs open like
[a][3][2][1][b][c] -> [a][1][2][3][b][c]

I like a lot of tabs, but if I have more than 20 or 30 firefox becomes really slow. It freezes whenever I close a tab. Anyone have any idea how I can fix this?

The "restore last session when starting browser" option only seem to work about 50% of the time.

Is this a known bug?

In response to what Rosy at Random said:
Only change I would request is to be able to specify a maximum tab size when using 'Tabs fit their content' option.

I've found that if you uncheck the 'Tabs fit their content' option, change the max width of the option above, then recheck the fit content option that it actually does what you're asking for.

Although, I'm not entirely certain that this isn't just some sort of weird reaction between all the different extensions I'm using.

At 8/16/2005 7:56 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

middle-click to open link in new tab works rarely. Most often it works only once on a page.
this is directly realted to tab mix

At 8/18/2005 3:30 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

regarding the options to specify the min width or max for tab fit their content, this is an error done in the options, there should be no reason why its should be disabled, it doesnt affect it

tmp already solves this

This is my mouse's and my favorite extension and we absolutely love it. We think it is the best extension and we use it all of the time. My mouse and TabMix are very close friends. They work very well together.

However, :(, as "Anonymous said...", 8/08/2005 1:48 PM, I use many tabs for my studies and my Web development and I download a lot. Firefox does not like all of this. It locks itself up and it either slows my system to a snail's crawl or it also locks up my system. I do not know if this is a conflict between the Firefox extensions I have installed or between Firefox, the installed extensions, and something else on my system. Perhaps there is a conflict for priority, stack, or memory? Regardless of the cause, I have decided to test my above mentioned activities with the Mozilla Suite (which I continue to believe is a better product, anyway).

Alas, my mouse is lost in Mozilla Suite without TabMix! Will you please, please, please be kind to my mouse and make TabMix available for Mozilla Suite? If you will, when can we expect it to be available?

On Firefox 1.0.6 Tab Mix 0.2.2.3 I still have these problems:

Middle clicking on links on a webpage does not work half of the time, repeatedly doing so it usually does open a tab, sometimes never at all though.

Clicking some links such as in ebay sometimes, 2 new tabs are opened. One of which the same new page repeated, of the original page the link was clicked on duplicated.

In Menu Show Tab mix options in TOOLS is unselected but still showing. Tried turning ticking and unticking it, it still shows in TOOLS.

Tab Mix is great but it's missing one feature that TBE has.

When I do a search from the location bar I really, REALLY want the location bar to change back to the original URL after I hit enter. TBE does this, Tab Mix doesn't, AFAIK.

That wasn't terrible clear to me so here's the long painful description. I've got a tab open with http://www.blogger.com. I click in the location box, type "mp3 editor" and hit enter. Firefox opens a new tab with a google search for "mp3 editor". I switch back to my blogger tab and the location box says "mp3 editor". I want it to go back to http://www.blogger.com.

This is a tremendous irritant for me as I do all my searches out of the location bar and keep finding that I have to reload pages to recover the URL.

in your Tab mix option, in the "general" tab, at the "for Advanced users only" section, there is a "Force to open in new tab:" selection list box, and i chose "All links" ,and it doesnt work. Or is it that i misunderstood its meaning? I think like this:
if i choose all links, then every links (url) i click in every webpage will open a new tab for the new webpage and NOT in the current tab.

if i am wrong please tell me.
thank you for your extention.
